Financial Aid Programs
Options for Financial Aid for CDL Training
As an ACCSC accredited institution, NTTS is eligible to participate in the following student financial assistance programs: Federal Pell Grant and the Federal Direct Student and PLUS Loan programs for undergraduate students and their parents. Outlined below are some financial aid options that may be available to qualified students.
CDL Training Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for these financial aid programs, a student must:
- Be a U.S. citizen (natural), U.S. permanent resident, or other eligible non-citizen.
- Be enrolled, accepted, and making satisfactory progress in an eligible program.
- Not currently be in default on a previous Federal Direct Student or PLUS loan.
- Must have a valid social security number for Federal Student Aid (exceptions found in the Federal Student Aid Handbook)
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Possess a High School Diploma, its equivalent, or meet one of the other eligibility conditions set forth by the Higher Education Act (HEA) for non-high school graduates.
Please note that the Advanced Commercial Drivers Course is an eligible program for the Pell Grant and Federal Direct Student Loan Program. The Commercial Drivers Course is an eligible program for the Federal Direct Student Loan Program only. Both the Advanced and Commercial Drivers Course programs are eligible for the Federal Direct PLUS Loan program.
Veteran Education Benefits
The Advanced Commercial Drivers Course, Commercial Drivers Course, and Heavy Truck Driver Course are also approved by the NYS Division of Veterans Affairs for the training of veterans and other eligible persons, which allows qualified individuals to apply for Veterans Education benefits. Other resources are also available (if qualified) through the New York State Higher Education Services Corp (HESC).

Tuition Reimbursement
In addition to student loans and other forms of financial aid, qualified students may be eligible for tuition reimbursement after graduation. Several trucking companies offer tuition reimbursement to NTTS graduates. This tuition reimbursement can range from $6,000.00 to $15,000.00, paid in monthly increments, based on the trucking company*†
NTTS is proud to partner with trucking companies offering local, dedicated, and regional driving job opportunities to graduates of the CDL training programs. Qualified NTTS graduates could earn up to $50,000.00 and $70,000.00 annually.*† More can be learned about these companies on the featured partners’ page.
